Being organized on and for vacation, especially with kids, is one of the keys to a successful and happy trip. And having top of the line travel accessories can enhance your travel experience and make your journey more comfortable.
After a lot of trial and error, we've learned which travel accessories are absolutely essential to keep you at the top of your Marie Kondo game:
A backpack to bring essentials for your flight/train, only to unpack when you get to your destination, and reuse to walk around with is James Bond another level. Once settled, we use it daily to bring water, jackets, and room enough to add purchases along the way. It is so much more convenient than a purse/bag or tote. Opt for one that strikes a balance between being spacious enough to carry your essentials yet compact enough to fit under a seat or in an overhead bin. Durable and lightweight materials like nylon, canvas, or polyester are excellent choices as they can withstand wear and tear and are easy to clean. Right now, we are obsessed with Duchamp backpacks.
We rely on reusable water bottles in our daily lives, so we definitely bring them along when we travel. Bringing a water bottle along when you travel will not only save you money and help reduce plastic waste, they will keep you hydrated during your travels. Opt for a bottle that is compact and lightweight, easily fitting into your carry-on bag or backpack (see above). Look for a bottle with a secure and reliable lid or cap that prevents leaks and spills. Also, look for a high-quality bottle that can withstand and last the rigors of travel.
Packing cubes have become something we rely on anytime we travel. They make it easy to keep your clothes, toiletries, and other belongings separated and easy to find. This can be especially helpful if you're traveling with a lot of stuff or if you're sharing a suitcase with someone else. Packing cubes can help you pack more efficiently by compressing your clothes and belongings, useful if you're trying to fit everything into a carry-on suitcase. Packing cubes come in various sizes, allowing you to choose the ones that best suit your packing needs and the size of your luggage.
A toiletry bag is a basic travel essential. The best type of toiletry bag will be designed with a leak-proof or water-resistant material. This will help to contain spills and prevent your other belongings from getting damaged in case you have a leaky bottle or tube. They are ideal for keeping your personal care items neatly organized in one place, making it easier to find what you need. Having a dedicated toiletry bag is also clutch when going through airport security or other travel checkpoints as you can present them for inspection and store them back in your carry-on bag.
Reusable travel bottles offer several benefits that make them a practical and eco-friendly choice for travelers. While reusable travel bottles may have a higher upfront cost, you can fill them with your preferred products. Meaning you can use your favorite shampoo, conditioner, lotion, or other products during your trip. Many reusable travel bottles are designed with leak-proof caps or lids, minimizing the risk of spills and messes in your luggage.
Travel wallets are great accessories! They're designed with multiple compartments and pockets to keep your travel documents, passports, credit cards, and cash secure and organized in a dedicated place. Having your travel documents in one place is paramount when you're going through security at the airport or train station, or when you're trying to find something in your luggage. Many travel wallets come with RFID-blocking technology, which helps protect your sensitive information from electronic theft and identity fraud. This ensures your credit cards and passports with RFID chips are safe from unauthorized scanning. One of the best parts about travel wallets is that they come in various sizes, designs, and colors, allowing you to choose one that suits your style and preferences!
A tech organizer is a handy travel accessory designed to keep your electronic devices and accessories organized and easily accessible. Tech organizers typically have multiple compartments and elastic loops for neatly organizing and securing your charging cables, USB cords, and headphones. This prevents tangled cables and saves time when you need to charge your devices or use headphones. Having a designated place for your tech essentials means you can quickly locate the device or accessory you need without rummaging through your bag. A tech organizer is a valuable travel accessory that enhances convenience, organization, and protection for your electronic devices and accessories.
Sometimes you just need to pack a bag so you can fill it with the treasures you find on your trip and then check it upon your return. We've exhausted all options here, from hard-shells to duffels, and the later comes out on top for the sheer compactability. And you can bring different sizes depending on where you're going. For example, we bring a massive duffel when we go to London, a smaller one when going to Reykjavík. A pro-move with the shoulder-strap when checking a bag is to unhook one end and wrap it around the bag and rehook. This allows for more stability and security as well as another way for the ground crew to grab the bag.
This is a must have for two main reasons; the first is that you always want to carry your jewelry with you so that you know where your grandmother's heirloom diamond engagement ring is at all times, and, just as equally important, so your necklaces have a chance of not getting tangled in knots. We like the hard-shells with various compartments so that you can keep your earrings separate from your rings.
Remember: The best travel accessories depend on your specific needs and destination. Before you go, make a checklist of the essential items you'll need for your trip to ensure a smooth and comfortable journey.
